I believe the body of 977232 took the same spot after this body was scrapped. You can compare with the other photo on the site here
Even one of the blue oil drums remains!

The writing on the side of this indicates that it was in internal use at Southampton Docks, perhaps it was on its way for scrapping when it was put to use as a stores van.

Still looking for a former number for this, does anyone even recognise the van type ? The closest match seems to be an Izal Pallet Van diagram 1/221 but those had sliding doors and this clearly has hinged.

It's a Palvan, Diagram 1/121, originally intended for Izal traffic from Sheffield.
Here's a link to Paul Bartlett's site:-

for some wagons in traffic use.

British Rly Vans No 3 (Gamble, Cheona Pubs) has a photo of one these on p39. It's a later type 14t Palvan with a 20' body and built 1960, dia 1/223. See also BR Wagons (Rowland) p65.

Thanks Richard, I agree, that makes it one of Lot 3373, Wolverton 1961, B782854-782872 then or the oddball B781751. Cheers.
