What are the large porthole like intakes beneath the windows? I have seen them on many other departmentals and assume they are some sort of additional air vent though I stand to be corrected.

Yes they are heater exhaust flues. There is a propane heater in each of the bedroom compartments and the kitchen area.

This coach has now been repainted grey and moved from Butterley to Swanwick Junction. The departmental number can still be read under the paint.
