Fascinating to have a look inside this old coach - stepping back in time with some of the pillows and mattresses still present and a newspaper from 1989! Sadly it is in a bad way having been in open storage for many years in the Crewe area. There is evidence of water leaking through the roof and many windows are broken. What the future holds for this and the other coaches in this line up isn't clear. I'm not even too sure who owns them these days - used to be Waterman Railways...?

The whole set in this siding are now owned by L&NWR Crewe. The problem seems to be getting them off site - as the Stoke line now electrified - lines would need to be down to get the vehicle out by road, and out by rail is going to be a safety issue. There are 3 GWRs here, and the prototype BR GUV 86500 too!.

Lets hope they are all preserved, including the prototype GUV as this is a more historic vehicle than the pre-nationalisation vehicles if less of an attraction to the uninformed. There seems a will to preserve grounded bodies that need new underframes and bogies but less to rebuid complete ex departmental vehicles of a slightly less vintage? Shame.

I hope this coach is restored; as far as I am aware there aren't any other of the ordinary 1936/7 'Sunshine' coaches preserved, though there are plenty of the later 1938 pattern.

Scrapped in 2009 unfortunately... some parts saved I believe - probably bogies.
