  Hi, does anyone know what the small writing on the "guards" door says. I am modelling one of the sets and i would like to make the correct transfers for it.

  I seem to remember certain vehicles stencilled with (from top - bottom)

  guard

  internal

  handbrake

  fitted

  usual practice for the guard to ride in the rear cab of the loco on the wiring trains

  but when train preparing or disposing of set it was easy to forget after checking the external handbrakes on the cable drum wagons that two coaches had internal handbrakes. The majority of the other coaches did not have handbrakes so after a few "dragging brake" incidents where the internal handbrake was left on, the stencils painted on.

  Thanks for that Rob. I found an old B&W photo.Your memory is about right. Putting all info together, and filling in the gaps it looks like-
