I presume it is not still being used although I don't think we can be 100% sure... it was reported "missing" from this spot recently so it may have now been scrapped here...?? However as someone else pointed out to me it is quite a rare coach (former number E3) and so I suppose it could have been removed by road for preservation? If this is the case I think it would certainly have been easier to remove it from here rather than from where it was parked at Barking! Another theory is that it was moved here to have useful components removed before scrapping / preservation?

Well it seems it has in fact just moved to the other side of the shed!

I WOULD SUGGEST MOVE WAS BY RAIL EX BARKING AS VEHICLE PUT BACK ON TOPS REG. FOR MOVE BETWEEN 10/01/02 & 24/01/02 POOL 9126 OWNED BY EWS. PREVIOUSLY NOT ON SYSTEM!

It was originally a very early Mk1 catering coach (RFO) built at York in 1951. Now over 50 years old!

EWS had sold this into preservation - but the sale fell through and
therefore the vehicle is back on the market for disposal. Enquiries to

This vehicle is now at J T Landscapes, Caerwent, Wales, believed owned by Raxstar (or else JT theirselves) the vehicle is potentially available for sale to preservation.
I do not have the resources to take it on (I already have M24006) but anyone who seriously wants to own a piece of history please email me at james@45015.com and I will give you more info.
This is your chance to save a unique piece of railway history, but you ain't got long! This would be a relatively cheap and straightforward conversion to a saloon of some kind with loose seats of some form, the strengthened area where the generators are/were could quite easily be used as a dancefloor!
Good luck, James
