  All three IU tanks at Hoo Junction (083623 and 083624 being the others) have "E.W.S." painted on the side in large letters as illustrated here.

  EWS stands for Emergency Water Supply, these being water tanks.

  thanks Paul - we all (I at least!) thought it stood for the other EWS, which seemed a tad odd enscribed on some other IU's about!!
