I'm assuming this was for class 86s on the GE route but any more detail welcome. Some of 977512-8 are presumably also visible here if that's how the numbers worked?

You are correct about the use of this vehicle. When this use finished this one spent a considerable time stored in Ipswich Yard, eventually it moved to Whitemoor, and I believe it was scrapped on site at Whitemoor when the yard was cleared (1994/1995 approx I think but may be incorrect) of all the stock that was no longer required or unfit to move by rail.

It was at the time electrification was being extended from Ipswich to Norwich ,there were from memory two sets of stock nominally based at Thornton's Field Sidings in East London .I noted these trains a number of times in 1988
For Instance on Monday 18th January 1988 86205 hauled 84098 977514 977517 977516 977515 977512 35190 as 1P30 1000 stratford to Diss Training Special
On 30th March it was 40122 (!) and 6x GUVs 977516 977515 977514 and a BG !
