8 July 2015 - Peter Hall
This was acquired from BR at Radyr Yard by Resco Railways. It was initially stored at their Kilnhurst, Rotherham workshops before moving to Steamtown Railway Centre, Carnforth and finally to Lancastrian Carriage & Wagon, Port of Heysham Industrial Park. The intention was to rebuild the interior of either LNWR 2112A or LNWR 5303 inside the body but the project was never progressed and it was scrapped in 1993.

On 21st November 1992 I passed what is now the Kingsbury scrap yard of EMR, then the Sheppard Group. Present was a carriage that fits the description of ADB977487. It is known this disappeared from Heysham between 17th June 1992 and 13th April 1993 and it is my belief that this is the carriage I saw.
In the past I have discussed what the carriage could be with disposal guru John Hall. Until ADB977487 was put in the frame his conclusion was that the only possible candidate was SK 19457 (ex FK 13457). This though was almost certainly scrapped on site at Oxley CS. As no confirmation of this has come to light, then it had to be a remote possibility for the Kingsbury carriage. John now concludes it must have been ADB977487 that I saw at Kingsbury.
Can anyone give 100% confirmation?

My records show this vehicle was Condemned at Radyr Yard, where it had been stored for some time, 11/3/88. it was disposed of from there 5/6/89. Whilst I cannot dispute your theory regarding being broken up at Kingsbury, I have one or two reservations. It is a considerable distance from Heysham to Kingsbury, would it really be worthwhile moving it by road for its relatively low scrap value. I doubt it would have been moved by rail as it had been off the TOPS register for some considerable time and was probably not fit to travel. Like I say your theory may well be right but I do have reservations!!
