7 April 2004 - James Fairchild
Also a now unique coach, this is the sole survivor from the first production order of mark 2 coaches, this (and W13252 at the NRM) are the only surviving mark 2's to feature windows with two sliding pieces rather than one.
Can anyone advise why it was last reported at GCR (N) Ruddington?
Thanks
James

this vehicle was carrying serco colours in 2004 as you can see in the next photos , it also appears to have had the corridor connectors removed at some point.

Amazing what you can find if you go to http://www.departmentals.com/search.php. i.e. it still exists, it is NOT in NwR yellow, and it is still at Derby RTC.

There's a good photo of Test Car 6 in Michael Harris' book, "British Rail Mark 2 Coaches" on page 120. That picture was taken in August 1983 and shows the carriage in departmental blue and red livery being hauled by a class 58. The picture shows to good effect how at that time, the red livery band was extended around the carriage ends - not a chevron in sight!

There's also a photo at http://www.traintesting.com/images/class%2037%20steering%20bogie%20Glenfinnan.jpg which shows Test car 6 with the red livery band, whilst it was behind 37175 testing the CP5 self-steering bogies.
