Seems this has already been split from its new formation - being seen this week with 9701 and 977869.

Possibly will move around from time to time if Network Rail see them as make up vehicles.

  • 25 June 2015 - Jonathan Anderson

Having Compared 9481 to 9701 is it possible for 9481 to be used as a DBSO if required.

Does 9481 have a driving cab?

Interesting comments, 9481 is a Mark 2d (1971 build) brake open second, the DBSO fleet (9701-9714) converted from later build Mark 2f (1974 build) converted to Driving Brake vehicles between 1979-1985 with 9706 being an early loss (30 July 1984) in the Polmont collision. Seems they are back in the spotlight now with DRS snapping them up for passenger use.
