This is one of two former SR vans (889009 and 889015) which were sent with a special train to Hamburg in 1988 for the IVA88 transport exhibition. They were used as match vehicles for the BSI couplers of the Sprinter. These vans somehow survived the intervening 20 years, originally as match wagons for moving Sprinters around the country and were finally acquired by the South Devon Railway where they have recently been re-painted.
