Does anyone have any info on this vehicle? Has it been earmarked for rescue by anyone in preservation or it is due to meet its end in the near future considering the ongoing clearout of redundant vehicles on the network? Is it worth saving (spares or repair) or is it a basket case that should be scrapped? So few LNER coaches saved compared with other companies. Site access probs here unfortuately. Assume owned by Jarvis?

7 February 2005 - John Curtis (LNERCA)
Built 1926 as 24680 Diag 34 BCK, rebuilt 1942 as Diag 324 BTK. My notes say Andrew Bellwood of Railtrack reported in 2000 that Jarvis were ready for it to go free to a good home.
I have pointed various interested parties towards it
It is an interesting vehicle but there is already one on NYMR. Full restoration is quite feasible but expensive.
There are almost no body spares on it.
Road access for the full height is not possible. We had an adjacent coach shunted across the ECML at great expense to get it out. Probably not possible now.
A major effort to recover bogies, doors, corridor screen and body framing etc could be mounted, but that is not in our sights at present.

This coach is actually owned by EWS and may well be for the chop soon as cutting of the stock at Leeman Road by Ron Hull Ltd, has begun
EWS have already moved the large number of vacuum-braked wagons that were in the South Yard to the North Yard, from where they were taken away by road. I believe CF Booth had the contract for this.

I think Ron Hull are carrying out work on site for Jarvis so I don't think they will be touching this coach. However as you say the vehicles in this siding are EWS owned so they may go out by road like 975658 and the old wagons you mention - possibly also to Booths. Watch this space!

Anyone know if this vehicle has been sold? would be a shame if it were scrapped. it would cost a fortune to restore as all the interior is missing.

I believe it has been bought yes - but maybe just for spares. More info here on the website when it becomes available...

16 January 2007 - Dave Cullingworth (LNERCA)
The coach was purchased by VSOE who want the underframe and bogies. They kindly let the LNERCA have the body and this was duly dismantled between Thu 11th and Sun 14th Jan. Long term the body pillars will be used in the restoration of the Gresley BCK currently stored at Pickering. Other teak will be recycled and used in BTK 3669 and others.

It was apparently craned out of the site on 6th Feb and onto a Heanors low loader. Destination assumed Stewarts Lane although confirmation would be good. Thanks.

Confirmed present at SL last friday. Being retained for its underframe which has the same section as the Pullman vehicles. It has already had various bogie swaps too.
