can anyone remember the bogie van that was used around Tinsley depot with the painted name Tan-y-ars on it and what its number was.

By "bogie van" do you mean a GUV? If so it was probably 042126 but can't confirm it carried that name as I don't have any photos other than the detail shot on the site...
