These route learning units always used to be regulars at Victoria Grosvenor Carriage Sidings but they seem to be stored here now? 931001 is also visible in the picture behind 931062.

Ben, these Units have been here for a few years now. I have a photo of one Unit tastefully repainted, courtesy of the Spray Can Brigade.

Chas it would be good to see the photo with a view to possibly using it on the site. When I was there the security seemed to be quite tight with huge gates and cameras where I took this photo from. They obviously found a way in! A lot of departmental stock that is now out of use seems to fall prey to the spray can - you only have to look at my picture of 975462 at Three Bridges and 977913 at Stratford!

It was ever thus. Seems nothing stops the vandals and thieves, yet those of us prepared to go in the proper entrance, say hello and please, invariably get short shrift.

I was the last Driver to drive 931002 one Saturday morning from Victoria to Ramsgate T&RSMD for it's usual service. It would normally return back to Victoria on the Sunday evening ready for another weeks hard work. However, on this particular Saturday, we arrived at Ramsgate depot and I put on the handbrake and after having my meal break, I worked back a fast to Victoria with a lovely 8-CEP. Sometime during that weekend, 931002 suffered a major M.G.(Motor Generator) failure and remained in the same spot exactly where I had left it, several months earlier. It was regretfully condemned and broken up. Rest in peace old friend!

I have just noted the CEP style replacment window with hopper ventilator on the bodyside. I assume that this was done when converted to a route learner but why?

    (P.S. CEPS were fantastic units!!)

Kev, any reason why the CEP style window was fitted as mentioned by John Horswell. Am thinking it was done to reduce draughts coming in around the original passenger door had it been retained.

    Hi David,

I'm doing some research so I can make an O gauge model of this unit. Do you have any interior pictures or can you remember how it was please?

    Cheers

    Tom
