Now repainted in the light blue NR livery.

  • 18 June 2026 - Roger Harris

Either one of these units is at Long Marston for attention, or another car is in the process of refurbishment, as one was noted yesterday at Rail Live in one of the buildings in blue livery, but no number could be seen.

  • 18 June 2026 - Ben Williams

I think the one at Chrysalis is 153381

  • 20 June 2026 - Greg Hartle

According to WNXX site, a photo of the unnumbered unit is titled as '153384'

  • 21 June 2026 - Ben Williams

I don't think this is correct - when I was there on Thursday it was outside the shed and was in the process of being completed.

  • 22 June 2026 - Greg Hartle

Was that the only blue Class 153 there? I attended Thursday and saw the unit outside the shed but tbh didn't really take much notice of it as I've seen them before, and earlier noticed it when entering the site from the coach drop off point and thought they had one there as an exhibit. I was focusing more on the plant! Never even realised it was unnumbered...

  • 22 June 2026 - Roger Harris

I've just looked at my photo again, and there are actually two Blue painted Class 153 cars, one behind the other, so perhaps 153381 and 153384 are both there. I have uploaded the photo so both can be seen.

  • 22 June 2026 - Roger Harris

    Ben,

If you look at my photo at LM of the 153s, do you think there are actually three ! in there, one behind the other. I look forward to your thoughts.

  • 22 June 2026 - Russell Withington

Just looked at my photograph (taken on Thursday) and there are certainly two more cars inside the shed. The first of these has a handrail underneath the left-hand cab window, as the VIUs did initially.

  • 22 June 2026 - Ben Williams

155345 was also in the shed.

  • 22 June 2026 - Greg Hartle

Yes it was 155345 in the shed, I took a photo of it from the event entrance end

  • 23 June 2026 - Russell Withington

Which takes us back to Roger's original question: What is the identity of the NR Blue Class 153 that was being worked on outside the shed?

  • 23 June 2026 - Vince

Members over on trainlogger established that it was 153381

  • 23 June 2026 - Greg Hartle

Ok so we're saying 153381 was outside of the Chrysalis shed, adjacent to the Centro 323, on the Thursday..
