So, the "Not To Leave Boston" embargo did not work then. Glad to see it was saved by The Essex Boys.
My notes say that this was DE 320731, an LNER Corridor Third coach. I don't have a record of the former running number, sadly. The letter under the centre window says "Ballast & Messing Brake".

Just to let you know I think it was origionally Great Eastern coach. I understand actually a composite to Dia 438 built in 1921. I think only 2 bogie GER coaches exist. The numbers you are looking for are GER 2155 and in later days E61533E. For LNER days remove the E's

Conservation / restoration of this vehicle to its form as converted to departmental use (1959 we believe) commenced Feb 2026. This might be the only coach displayed in Ballast Messing Brake form.
Details will be updated on the East Anglian Railway Museum website: https://earm.co.uk/boston-coach/. Donations, of course, would be very gratefully received, as would any further details on this coach and the use to which it was put.
