So this van is a bit of a mystery. It has been here at Toton for many years but it has no identity on it now. It houses some of the load bank equipment and is adjacent to a white container. I wonder if there is a chance it might be one of former Toton internal user 12t vans 024405, 024406, 024499 or 024763...?

I noted down the locations of the grounded van bodies in March 1990. 024406 & 024499 (with 'Vanwides' B783230 & B783838) were to the south of the main depot building. 024414 & B765968 (not IU) were next to the road to the north of the main building. 024405 was north of the main building roughly in the area where the current body lies. However, the surviving body has wooden planked sides. I've looked at internet photos of similar numbered B7xxxxx vans and none of the above have planked sides! I did see grounded body B780622 here in October 1986 and this has wooden planked sides. I didn't record it after this date though so it could have been scrapped in the late 1980s. Looks like we can rule out the survivor being one of the former Toton IU van bodies.

I inadvertently included some grounded vans in some photos I took at Toton in 1991.

As Brian notes above, the ones he recorded south of the main depot had plywood sides, I am assuming that the ones in my photos are 024406, 024499, B783230 and B783838? Any ideas which Vanfit may be in my second photo?
