This coach has recently been inserted into the NMT to replace mark 2 977974 which will eventually form part of the new NMT#2. This second train will consist entirely of mark 2 coaching stock. 999550 will eventually be replaced by 977993.

When I got off train from Glasgow, I was surprised to see the New Measurement Train (The Banana) and wrote number in my little notebook. Suddenly the train, which included 977994 and the front locomotive, 43014, departed at 2.20 p.m. from platform 15, Waverley Station for Queen Street today !
