  Were not the sets used on Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh , Disc braked for some reason ?

  presumably due to the intensive, high-speed nature of the service, all of the mk2s allocated had disc brakes fitted - more consistent performance, less maintenance?

  were also through-wired with 'blue star' control jumpers

  Lab 5 was a track recording coach not a brake force runner as captioned.
