    A lucky find lurking in the background of a photo on another website led to the discovery of this van after being "missing" for almost 8 years! Thanks to all involved for their help in finding this one. Not sure what the future holds but it seems mainly complete...

    just wondering where in crowborough this is. i used to live down there but don't recognise the area in the photo? any clues

    Blimey, I have not seen this ole girl for many years. I'm pretty sure it's one of the two wagons we used on plant southeast when we relayed the track between Ashford and Folkstone in the early 90s in preparation for the eurostars. We used to use it has a mess & tool van, when it was on site it was coupled to the DTS so it was always handy. The DTS used to sit behind a Tamper & Regulator and another Tamper used to follow behind. I have a picture of it 'on the job' if your interested. I did however post this picture to Vince the other day to put on the otm website.

    Its at the rear of Owlsbury Coach Works on Hadlow Down Road just south of Crowborough. There is also the remains of a Ruston industrial shunter there too.

    OK - I went to check on this van today and its gone from here! If anyone knows anything please let me know!

    The shunter has also gone.

    Seems it has gone the way of so much other former departmental stock - burnt and scrapped at the end of last year (according to the adjacent garage.) Shame.
