Although the ID of this van isnt 100% confirmed it is thought to be this (via a process of elimination!) Charlie tells me:

"DB 786893 - Tool Van (Jarvis owned, stored) -

last confirmed sighting at York July 2002, couldn't be identified as there in January 2005.

DB 787276 - Shunting Truck/Reach Wagon (Jarvis owned, ballast cleaner RM plant) -

last confirmed sighting at York January 2005 (but not the one we are looking for)

    KDB 786917 - EWS owned, condemned -

last confirmed sighting at York July 2002, couldn't be identified as there in January 2005.

ADB 787327 - Wheel Wagon (Jarvis owned, surplus) -

no confirmed sighting, couldn't be identified as there in January 2005

DB 787226 - Shunting Truck/Reach Wagon (Jarvis owned, ballast cleaner RM plant) -

last confirmed sighting at York January 2005 (but not the one we are looking for).

DB 786986 - Brake force Vehicle (EWS owned, for re-allocation AB ?) -

last confirmed sighting at York January 2005 (but not the one we are looking for) - I have this as being cut.

    DB 786996 - Jarvis owned, withdrawn -

The one we know is there

There were 400 of these Ferry Vans built in 2 batches, all to design 1/227 -

786873 to 787022, built by Pressed Steel

787098 to 787347, built at Ashford.

Although all of these were officially 20t, a lot of references to the 2nd batch put them as 25t, so there are probably differences between the 2 batches.

Having looked at the pictures, of the 2 candidates (786893 or 787327), I would lean towards 787327 (particularly as nobody has been able to identify it) - see picture of 787329 on VCT.

The January 2005 sightings were obtained from Midland Wagons (message 6427), which is pretty comprehensive (actual identifications)."
