More like woodworm and rot than a shunting issue.

Sadly the bodyside damage was caused by one of the staff at Thornaby C&W who used a forklift truck, placing the forks in the bodyside to move the coach on one occasion. It was later moved, more conventionally, into Tees Yard for further storage, pending disposal.

But the photo dated 1992 is a bit of a giveaway. The clues are there. ;-)
