At the time of cutting, the chassis was destined for the Bluebell railway but to be honest I can not be certain if it ever arrived there.

Whats interesting is that the only bit of bodywork left proudly displays its original number. Did this vehicle ever carry its IU identity?

No not this one!! The Bluebell had ex PMV/CCT (non-bogie) vans and the arrived at Sheffield Park complete before scrapping for the underframes to be used on LBSC Stroudley coach project.

977182 & 977183 were the ones that left Eastleigh and subsequently had their bodies removed at the Bluebell.

I dont think 083379 carried its IU number but willing to be corrected!

I have a record of having seen 083379 at Eastleigh in the late 1980's, carrying the IU number.

Stores Van S 4598 S. Transferred 10/79 ( SR design GUV Dia 3182 Lancing 1949 RSCO L3228). Info from Platform 5 Dept. Coaching Stock book 3rd Ed 1987.
