News - Preservation round-up
22 September 2004 - thanks to Peter Hall, Andy Dickinson, Simon Jones, Bryan Dawes and others for this article
A quick look at preserved departmentals news.Unique DE 321047 has been sold and has been moved from MOD Caerwent to a secure location pending an assessment for restoration to some form of passenger carrying vehicle possibly with assistance from an HLF grant.
Apparently all of the coaches in the old Crewe test train have now been bought (5 for preservation and 3 have been bought by a mainline operator for further use!) Six of the vehicles had ultrasonic exams at the end of July and were expected to move shortly afterwards - possibly to the Railway Age initially for onward movement. Whether this has since taken place is not yet clear.
