News - More yellow arrivals!

18 March 2004

The yellow departmental conversions keep on coming!

977969 was recently despatched from Cambridge on 26th February behind 31128 heading for Derby. This coach is a conversion of former Royal vehicle 2906 but its new role with Network Rail is not yet clear.

Generator van conversion 6262 has also recently been noted at Derby Etches Park sporting the yellow livery despite its sisters 6260 and 6261 being outshopped in the new NR blue and red livery. This van is a conversion from former postal vehicle 92928.

Finally the new Severn Tunnel emergency train units 977975 and 977976 have arrived at their new home - also carrying the yellow livery! These have been converted from "bubble" car DMU vehicles 55027 and 55031 respectively and should be allocated 960302 and 960303 set numbers. However at the moment they carry 960201 and 960202 in error which means there are currently two units on the network with the same set number (Hitachi unit also carrying 960201!) It is expected these units will replace the current train at Sudbrook (975497, 975615 and 977526.) These two were converted some time ago and even originally carried the old Railtrack blue and green livery whilst stored at Crewe Carriage shed.

****UPDATED 23RD MARCH 2004****
These units are now reported to be carrying their correct set numbers 960302 and 960303.

Veteran DMU unit "Iris II" 977693 and 977694 has also received the yellow livery within the last few months.
