News - Network Rail Coaches

17 September 2003 - thanks to Dennis Belringer for this article

Some new refurbished coaches in the new Network Rail livery have been seen recently.

975087 and 975477 have been seen at MOD Ludgershall this week.

They were recently overhauled and repainted at Kilmarnock works and are now awaiting use with a major NR project but were originally part of a BTU set latterly stored at Derby Etches Park.

Dennis tells me:
"They are being used by Network Rail with locos 73212 & 73213, and numerous converted FAA`s, for the major rewiring exercise that is to take place in the south-east. All the materials are being stored initially on the southern part of the MoD site in Ludgershall. They are only visible from the road occasionally. Network Rail are leasing part of the site for 5 years from Defence Rail & Container Services (ex Defence Rail Executive) There is an additional coach, now numbered 6260, also in the same livery there sometimes."

The other coach from this former BTU set (975471) has recently also appeared in the new livery at Derby Etches Park (19th Sept 2003)
