Normally seen between 975046 and 975076 this van is seen here away from its usual companions for probably the first time in many years. All three have recently moved here for preservation at Ruddington having spent many years stored out of use in the depths of Derby RTC...

This van is one on ten COV-ABs built at Shildon in 1970 and fitted with R&DDs 'Taperlite' suspension which was known as HSFV5.

Eventually the experiment was abandoned and the rest of the vehicles were returned to normal friction link suspension.

It was "Owned" by a railway rather than "Preserved", but now it's not.

Seems to be part of the big clearout at Ruddington. Anything or anyone that doesn't agree with the current management is OUT.

Should have added that the converted BSK/DBSK that was also part of the tribometer is also on its way out.

Indeed - 975076 - although I have heard this is not for scrap but movement elsewhere?

    aw that's a shame :(

    25 August 2009 - Smoggy

975076 is indeed on its way out from Ruddington, but thankfully is going to another preserved line for further reuse :)

Just for readers of this thread, The Trib Train BSK is leaving the railway. Other than that, I wouldn't take much notice of Mr Nicholas's comments regarding the GCR(N)'s present management, as this forum isn't the place for these kinds of irrelevent comments.
