Confusingly, this unit was numbered 003 until the original unit 002 (DS 70269 & 70271) was scrapped. Thanks to Simon & Keith for the info.
003 De-icing Unit. DS70270+DS70272 ex 4LAV MBSs 10497/99 resp (units
2954/55) 2/1969. Unit reno 002 7/1982. Coaches reno 977366/67
9/1986. Unit wdn 3/1990. Scrapped by Gwent Demolition 8/1993.
Unit fitted with Plasma Torch 1971-72. Used as Water Cannon 1972-79.
Then as Sandite till wdn.

Was this set renumbered when this photograph was taken? I photographed them as ADS70270 + 70272 only 6 days earlier, on 12 October 1986 at Eastleigh
