DS 70285
2 March 2009 - Martin Allen
This coach is a Bulleid-designed Third Open, built 12-1947 (Lancing & Eastleigh) as part of a 6-car dining train set for the Bournemouth route. Withdrawn in 1966 and transfered to the Departmental fleet as an office, firstly at Brighton and then St. Leonards depot. It was "claimed" by the NRM and placed on loan to the Bluebell Railway, arriving on 11-8-80. Now transfered to full Bluebell ownership.
Note the full depth "skirt" covering the underframe and the shallow depth side lights, both of which are features of the early Bulleid coaches.
