17 October 2006 - Ben Williams
Stock in this siding may soon be cleared out as Network Rail are trying to "tidy up" the yard! This van is probably owned by EWS like the LNER coach adjacent and so may follow 975658 and some other old wagons to Booths by road....

This van still on site 12/01/07 same condition.
I understand it has been purchased and is due for removal soon.

This CCT is still on site, but long term neighbour Gresley coach 320645 has now been removed from site.

I thought that this vehicle had been preserved - with the Swanage Railway having been mooted as a destination. Did the deal fall through?

3 June 2008 - Ben Williams
The van 042466 went to Swanage but I understood this had been purchased (or at least earmarked) by another individual. Suspect the headroom restrictions are delaying any moves although if the van got out in one piece...

Enquiries early last year found that it is owned by the NRM and so not available. A haulier with a particularly low trailer was supposed to have been moving it later on in the year but .... it is still there. When I speak to the haulier in the near future I will broach the question.

Still present at York today!

Is this actually owned by the NRM? If so then can we assume it as yet another vehicle of theirs left to rot?

VCT website says the former CCT number is 35527

Just wondered where the best vantage point is to see this stores van
Thanks

It used to be in roughly same place in middle of Leeman Road and visible from ECML trains but I haven't been past for a year or so...
7 July 2014 - Dennis Graham
It's only a shell now.
You should see it from the gate in Leeman Road if not too many vehicles in road.
18 February 2015 - Peter Hall
It would be interesting to know whom Roger made enquiries of that concluded this was owned by the NRM. This is certainly not the case according to the current curators. They can find no record whatsoever of it having been accessioned into the National Collection or having been acquired by the NRM as working plant.
At privatisation internal users were generally considered to be a part of the fixtures and fittings of the site they were located. Thus, as the site where 041379 is located is now again under Network Rail control it is almost certainly owned by Network Rail.

This vehicle is on its own now looks like alot of vehicles have gone from the site.
What was interesting was the pile of new timber along side it..Could it be getting a rebuild?

Apparently the body was scrapped on site and the underframe has gone to Tanfield Railway. However the actual owner is obviously a little upset about this...
