After some initial confusion I think we have established that this is almost certainly 025042 because of the wagon lot number plate that it carries.

Apparently this carries a Lot 1470 plate - thanks to Eddie for this detail.

Charlie tells me "only 025042 was to lot 1470 - the other 3 were built to lot 1517."

This photo was taken before they gained their IU numbers but is useful for reference.

I always thought that this was one smart livery. It is always a bit wierd seeing historic vehicles in modern day schemes but it would be be even better to see one in InterCity or Jaffa Cake colours.........

ADM732268 built Derby 1948, Lot 1470, Dia D2068. Converted to EMU adaptor at Horwich Works lot 3940 in 1979. Condemned at Allerton TMD 13/5/02 and to IU. When I photographed it on 31/1/93 it had recently been painted into the smart Merseyrail livery.

Clearly visible from a passing train, confirmed at present location by a member of staff..

  • 25 December 2024 - Peter Wreford

RHRP lists this LMS brake van as having moved to Oakamoor and completely refurbished.

  • 2 August 2026 - Russell Withington

This Brake Van is owned by the Dean Forest Railway Society (where it has been seen several times), and needs its 'Preserved Railway/Museum' updating.

  • 2 August 2026 - Ben Williams

Ok. This was changed after Peter's 2024 comment. Assume you are confident that you saw both 025042 and 025043 at DFR? I see RHRP now lists both at DFR again so the Oakamoor update was probably wrong...

  • 2 August 2026 - Russell Withington

One was in the yard at Norchard, the other in the siding (where the DFRS have a number of carriages in storage) near Whitecroft Station. Looking at the photographs of the two I'm pretty confident that I've got them the right way round.
